on Mon, 04/15/2019 - 21:12

Good luck finishing filing your tax returns for your federal, state and in some cases city taxes (and refunds if you qualify or you have more than your taxes require.) New York is one such state that has a tax as does New York City (as in the 5 boroughts... Bronx, Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens and maybe Yonkers but don't quote me.) On the bright side, there are credits available as well as taxes. Think of filing an extension with Tax Act or other software program.

"Due to the probability that the Mueller report will be out this Sunday, CNN has changed the time of our Town Hall on Sunday night.

THE NEW TIME IS 6PM, this Sunday, April 14th! Please do all you can to let others know, as well."

Showing Support for One Another Over the Decades, Especially in Later Years, at home and on the road

on Sun, 04/14/2019 - 03:17

In case you are an person coming into your later 50s or early 60s or beyond  check out a helpful website on CT Senior Law, www.czepigalaw.com. They cover many helpful points about aging (the nuts and bolts of how to be prepared for various challenges and changes, legal ins and outs and reasons to have a consult with an elder law attorney, ideally someone versed in medicaid or Title 19 as well.) People are living longer, and some say 120 will be the new 90.

That we were built to last that long. Many are making it to their 80s and 90s and thankfully mostly in good health. But not all.

Unlocking Justice book by Karin Huffer, and Legal Abuse Course to be a Certified Advocate online

on Sun, 04/14/2019 - 02:50

In the course of learning about the miserable uphill battles many protective parents, generally mothers, may face in gaining custody of their minor children face, I attended the Battered Mothers Custody Conference a few times in the past decade. I met Karin Huffer there as she was a presenter who travelled from out West to NY.

She was developing a course to train people to be advocates for people facing the courts yet being compromised by 'legal abuse syndrome' whether they had identified disabilities or developed PTSD behaviors due to the stress of the court process.

The recent tragic loss of a family of five to apparent murder-suicide committed by the legal father and husband figure in Sheffield MA has many grieving and our society needing to address next steps to recover and strengthen community.

The need to know more about mental health and safety in relationships of all kinds is clear if not dire.
