Taking care of myself so I can take care of others
This is a comment I posed about the balance between medication, diet and exercise. It is very simple. I thought it was worth a separate post. Everyone needs their own guidelines and practices for taking care of themselves, depending on their personal state of health and medical issues. I think these work well for most people.
Some people are against all medication. I am in strong favor of taking responsibility of my body. and doing whatever the best combination of self-discipline and wise use of medicine to do what my body needs. I don't live by generalities.

My balance is poor, so I eat a healthy diet, work out as hard as I feel I can at the gym, get enough protein and drink just as much water as my body can handle. At my age, I take a nap when I am tired, no matter what time of day it is to refresh my strength.

I am Diabetic, so I don't eat anything loaded with sugar. The best exercise is using your brain and pushing yourself away for the table and taking responsibility for what I put in my mouth. It seems to work well for me.

I'm going to be 88 in a couple of weeks, and I want to live the best life for as long as I can be active; not just for myself, but for all those I love and want to be here for them.
I listen to my body, my doctors, and my Lord. --Gerald Rasmussen, CT
