NY can increase mental health support for students from 1.5 to 5M...IF...
IF people want to see an increase in services for students to have support for mental health, see the following link and advocate accordingly. http://www.votervoice.net/Shares/BAAAAAsmACffPAWlt_T7FAA Someone encouraged me to join a NY PTA a year or so ago in a little cafe in Millerton NY (near the lovely North East Community Center which is a total gem...so check that out and emulate the efforts as you can with your existing resources in schools, faith groups, and more.) Now here's to more early interventions to prevent harm and more costly problems for people and the systems designed for 'after things get more complicated...and costly.'
Every $5 Million will do wonders! (Of course data will be checked but that's a good bet in my book...) The more control and support students have the better they will do in school and with staying out of the legal system... All the best and see BMCC in Albany NY near the end of April 2019 and CA Protective Parents for more info on how Domestic Violence, particularly any separation of children from their primary caregiver if there is abuse is not wise yet can be common. House Resolution 72 proposes that alleged victims of abuse be able to maintain initial custody of their children (in a legal matter of divorce or custody disputes.)
In addition Safe and Together Institute helps shed light on the importance of keeping children with their protective parent, generally the mom. They offer training for agencies and advocates and lay people as well. See WAFAA for inspiring stories and programs as well to help prevent decline when troubles loom. Often one problem can lead to another or reoccur with more people being affected or even harmed. So there are plenty of reasons to reflect on This Set of Issues. Thanks for sharing this post and doing a quick letter such as what I just submitted....
