Spread the word--www.girlrising.com can change the world
The group www.salisburyforum.org puts together some dynamite programs to enrich the Tri-Corner (MA/NY- CT, connect) area offerings about what is going on in the world. The forum offered a free screening of www.girlrising.com which explores the lives of young girls and women who are given a chance to have an education. The investment not only of time, money, supplies and prioritizing access to the schooling benefits the young women and their countries.
The numbers have been crunched and 8 years of school and delaying having a baby by a year can make a huge monetary difference for a country, saving India for instance $5 billion dollars annually. Far too many young women die in childbirth. The overall goal of keeping women safe is one many NGOs (non-governmental organizations) as well as laws and worldwide standards promote, yet takes many practical cultural and social venues to carry forward to achieve.
Take a few minutes to find out more on the site regarding what has been done to help specific countries and set the example for more to follow. Every person deserves decent treatment and the world citizens cannot turn a blind eye or deaf ear to the pleas that come not only from the people suffering but from agencies and efforts who have proven the ways to prevent atrocities and neglect from taking their toll on the lives and economies of developing countries and poorer communities the world over. The disparity I was able to mention to the full theatre that I heard on www.npr.org is that 85 families have the worht of 1.7 trillion dollars which is the combined income of the poorest HALF of the world's population.
Let's change the tune in this day and age and leave the next generation with a 'turn-around legacy' of schooling, health, mature marriages and/ or childbearing women and a longterm look at how communiites function with respect and care for all at every age. That is explored on www.gaia.org. More free advocacy, education and solutions for heart, mind, body and soul for health, healing. learning and dreaming a beter world into being abound. Don't miss out. Thanks for spreading the word that these small steps and growing movements can help change the world sooner rather than later. Every life counts equally and can be honored with care and proper boundaries. UNIFEM began with a special recognition of the efforts of women the world over. The bar has been raised and it's time for US-All to aspire to meet it together so a new day can dawn on young and old alike. In peace, love and harm-not-me..just harmony!
