Willy Yahn Going Beyond the Goals He Set in 8th Grade and Even At UCONN!
It was heartwarming to hear that Willy Yahn of humble Sharon CT roots was in CT playing ball in Hartford. Check out the colorful post by Brian Ohlinger on Northwest Corner Chatter FB page. that started with "After a red hot start to the 2019 season, the Baltimore Orioles have promoted Willy Yahn up to its Double A affiliate!" That's the Bowie Baysox, and his first game was in Hartford CT against the Hartford Yard Goats. Willy played 3rd base and had a great hit, Brian relayed from on the scene with Willy's family and a few others dashing out there from an hour away to see the game.
Here's my comment and yes, Willy's team won, 10-8!
Yesterday I was just looking through Willy's Sharon 8th Grade Yearbook (found sticking out from a stack here in Brooklyn NY.) Since our kids went there too, they knew each other even from playgroup days. Willy's featured 8th grade photo had highlighted his love for Baseball...of course that'd been the case for years, but it got me appreciating his dedication..so great to know he was back on CT turf gracing us with his grit and gift...
An inspiration across the board. I also learned there will be some amazing acrobats at Jacob's Pillow, so in case some athletes want a few more tricks up their sleeve they may want to check out some of the other talent on the planet...(some say those with these extra skills have a special bit of DNA by the way..so again, kudos to all using what they've got to make the game of life an amazing experience.)
High fives to his family and supportive team players over the years too.. .It takes a team to make a champion...and this one's over the top!
