Lots of Chatter about Bicyclists Who Don't Pull Over (or stay in their lane two bikes wide) on Northwest Corner Chatter (of CT)

on Tue, 08/20/2019 - 03:23
Very sadly, a situation like the one that started this thread was a Warning Sign that minors were not up to 'following the laws or common courtesy' about bicycling and sharing the road.

A person who was peeved at their behavior could have given them a talking to they wouldn't have forgotten, and likely would have had some put their bikes to the side and call their parents...

That would have been a miracle had he felt 'this was one of those moments'...because Then they wouldn't have headed off to The Falls where our teen son Kaelan Paton lost his life helping others --which I cover on Remembering Kaelan Alexander and other posts on livfully.org .

It may sadly be that Kaelan was likely part of the pack of bikers not pulling over or insisting his friends do so...so there's that peer pressure doing it's thing...but I haven't heard from the kids or families more in the know.

The person knew our son and would have felt okay about letting him and us know of the situation. The adult was upset enough he just didn't want to lose his cool with a group of teens however...and really he likely did similar stuff as most people have 'back in the days of their youth.' So the point isn't to single out that particular bunch of kids but rather to Learn from the Loss and consider karma type dynamics...

The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Hudson and Riso (and there we may as well appreciate our ties to the Hudson River and the big leagues of learning water safety, auto, bike and walking and hiking safety-- primarily Watching the Edge of Danger and taking extra caution to keep a safe distance...and PLAN for peace, safety and not making erratic moves and dares, etc.

The book shares that a man tried to warn people that a bridge was out... but some dudes in a pick up gave him the finger and floored it only to fine themselves airborne before their lives came to a quick difficult conclusion...Was it the 'physics' or the attitude of the driver that was the real cause of their sudden passing?

When people are 'like that' as a way of being, their odds for 'a serious problem spike.' Even people who are generally calm and trying to be reasonable can 'lose it and suddenly want to speed off.' I know of a person who thankfully wanted to do that even though there were clues that the person had over-extended trust to someone, a second person.

When that second person felt the first was being too upset they didn't want the first to drive in case they would not be safe doing so. Rather than share that concern, the second person took their key and delayed the first who was running late for a counseling appointment they felt they super needed (and didn't want to get charged a hundred bucks for not showing up. )

The tension and craziness spiked inside of 10 minutes. When the first person finally got the key to the car back, the person was ready to 'speed ahead and even pull out of a somewhat remote yet blind driveway.'

Thankfully the person had the presence of mind to stop for a moment from lifelong habits and just then a Mack truck came barreling down the road. Had the timing been a second or two different we wouldn't hear the happy ending of the story.

The truck passed by without incident. The first person realized there was too much stress trying to make the appointment and called to explain..and did not have to pay the penalty. Another time after a perfectly lovely day with a child at a school gathering in Great Barrington MA

, heading home around 3 pm down Route 7, a car pulled into their lane, and was not aware they had done so. In about two seconds the driver going south thought they'd either get hit or swerve to not have the car hit them ,though right behind them was a school bus full of kids.

Thankfully the driver realized their error and pulled back into their north bound lane up Route 7. So we may have 'an appointed time' or option to exit that we may have signed up for before we got here. That's a theory from Edgar Cayce (and maybe Rudolf Steiner) but don't quote me.

These are not mainstream ideas in America though in the media they are being raised regularly. We likely all have a dozen or two close calls that we can recall...and many more times beyond that we didn't realize or don't remember...

After all , each day is a new day.. Starting it with a sense of gratitude and intention for safety and positive plans (rather than worry about what may go wrong) may affect 'the field'.

Consider when someone is 'doing something to us' that we may have done something along those lines to others (maybe even in a past life.) Consider the What If and What Might It Mean if we are in some kind of karmic or quantum cycle or outplaying of events, not only as individuals but as social friends and groups...

See more along those lines on livfully.org and let's spread this set of questions to many who likely have never really had a prompting to consider such things... once the lightbulb goes off, the behaviors can likely fall back into line. If someone has compromised abilities for any reason ( stress, mid life or any other stage of life, drugs, mental illness or decline, etc) then more teams could be screening them and offering more support to have a more normal, balanced life with assistants as needed.

Okay, that's some basic input when I am tapping into my much needed sleep after a big weekend (in Brooklyn where someone did want to prove he had a right to speed to do a U Turn and park even during the tail end of a block party when the road was not officially opened...) Somebody got his TN license plate and likely will be calling his Mother.
